What a juicy newsletter! I, too, enjoyed the kintsugi exhibit at the art gallery and have long loved the concept of celebrating our cracks with gold. Your poem is beautifully breathtaking. The line “I’ll keep it until I need it myself.” Oooooooohhhhhh
I was already so taken with what you wrote about your Dad, and then I read your poem (in your Mom's voice) and cried (still crying). I still have a lot of pain around my Mom, which I only feel in a moment like this when something touches it.
"Love and anger and confusion and grief and celebration"
Your writing touches my heart always Kelsey thank you. You are the second person to tell me about the Kintsugi at the gallery, I have booked myself a fun day in Victoria to see that, no medical appointments, no friend visits, just me on a giant one day artist date. I love your side comments they bring you right into the room as I read your words.
I can’t wait for you to release the preorders for your next book of poems.
Aww thank you Hannah!!
Beautiful Kelsey. Lots to digest here.
Thanks Kristine!

Thanks Nicole! I’m glad you got to the exhibit. Those masks were amazing!
I’m relating so strongly to what you’ve said about your Dad… for me, it’s my mom. Your poem is gorgeous. I love your voice.
Thank you so much! It’s such a mix of feelings when a relationship with a parent has some cracks in it.
Love the way this poem blends the dying and the growing, nourishing basil!!
Thank you! My mum has another grocery store basil attempting to be resuscitated on our counter as we speak.
